As Creative Partners (CPs), we practice shared leadership through consensus-based decision-making, collectively held resources and labor, and artistic collaboration. There are no fixed executive or artistic director positions. Instead, CPs move in to and out of leadership roles depending on the project, with other CPs consenting to those temporary roles. In this way, the power of leadership is not fixed and exploitative, but rather relational and abundant—a resource we all contribute to and draw from. All major decisions are made through a voting process within the Creative Partnership.\u003C/span>\n\u003Cp style=\"text-align: center;\">\u003Cstrong>A BRIEF HISTORY OF FLUX'S CREATIVE PARTNERSHIP\u003C/strong>\u003C/p>\n\u003Cb>In the before time: \u003C/b>In 2005, Corinna Schulenburg collaborated with Candice Holdorf, \u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/about/kelly-odonnell\">Kelly O'Donnell\u003C/a>, and Jason Paradine to produce and stage her play \u003Ci>Riding the Bull\u003C/i> at Theater for a New City. When we were invited back in 2006 to stage Corinna’s \u003Ci>\u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/History/rue/\">Rue\u003C/a>,\u003C/i> we were joined by \u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/about/heather\">Heather Cohn\u003C/a>, Joe Mathers, and David Renwanz as co-producers. Together, we (“The Seven”) co-founded Flux Theatre Ensemble that July and gathered for our first annual Flux Retreat at the Little Pond Arts Retreat in August 2006.  Flux’s inaugural production was \u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/History/life-is-a-dream/\">\u003Ci>Life is a Dream \u003C/i>\u003C/a>in 2007.\n\n\u003Cb>The founding generation:\u003C/b> The seven co-founders were joined by Associate Members Jake Alexander, \u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/about/tiffany\">Tiffany Clementi\u003C/a>, Michael Davis, Felicia Hudson, \u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/about/isaiah\">Isaiah Tanenbaum\u003C/a>, Christina Shipp and Cotton Wright. This founding generation of Flux produced a remounted \u003Ci>\u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/History/riding-the-bull/\">Riding the Bull\u003C/a>,\u003C/i>  \u003Ci>\u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/History/a-midsummer-nights-dream/\">A Midsummer Night’s Dream\u003C/a>, \u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/History/other-bodies/\">Other Bodies,\u003C/a> \u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/History/the-angel-eaters-trilogy/\">The Angel Eaters Trilogy\u003C/a>, \u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/History/pretty-theft/\">Pretty Theft\u003C/a>, \u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/History/the-lesser-seductions-of-history/\">The Lesser Seductions of History\u003C/a>,\u003C/i> and \u003Ci>\u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/History/jacobs-house/\">Jacob's House\u003C/a>.\u003C/i> At our annual Retreats, we defined our mission, values, and practices. We also began key play development programs like Flux Sundays, ForePlay, Have Another, and Food:Soul. As this generation evolved into the next, David, Candice, Joe, Jake, Michael, Felicia, and Cotton moved back from the Ensemble, Tiffany and Isaiah become full Creative Partners, as did Matt Archambault, Kia Rogers, and Will Lowry.\n\n\u003Cb>The flood generation\u003C/b>: Flux’s productions, programs, and people grew rapidly during this time. We produced \u003Ci>\u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/History/dog-act/\">Dog Act\u003C/a>, \u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/History/ajax-in-iraq/\">Ajax in Iraq\u003C/a>, \u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/History/menders/\">Menders\u003C/a>, \u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/History/deinde/\">DEINDE\u003C/a>, \u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/History/hearts-like-fists/\">Hearts Like Fists,\u003C/a> \u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/History/sans-merci/\">Sans Merci\u003C/a>, \u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/History/honey-fist/\">Honey Fist\u003C/a>, \u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/History/jane-plain/\">Jane the Plain\u003C/a>, \u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/History/upon-bride-forest/\">Once Upon A Bride There Was A Forest\u003C/a>, \u003C/i>and \u003Ci>\u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/History/salvage/\">Salvage\u003C/a>.\u003C/i> We strengthened our broader community through the Friends of Flux (“FoFs”) program. We co-created new ways of making work that responded directly to social justice issues facing our community, like \u003Ci>\u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/2013/11/understand-our-ground-photos/\">Understand Our Ground\u003C/a>, \u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/2015/05/breathe-free-at-judson-photos/\">Breathe Free\u003C/a>, \u003C/i>and \u003Ci>\u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/2015/09/speakup-the-pictures/\">#SpeakUp\u003C/a>.\u003C/i> We launched values-based innovations like the Open Book and Living Ticket. We participated in our first residency at Loisaida Center and under the leadership of Sandy Yaklin came to call “The Sandbox” a home for rehearsal, storage and construction. As Matt, Tiffany, and Jason moved back from the ensemble, we welcomed \u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/about/creative-partners/becky-byers/\">Becky Byers\u003C/a>, \u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/about/creative-partners/sol-crespo/\">Sol Crespo\u003C/a>, \u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/about/creative-partners/rachael-hip-flores/\">Rachael Hip-Flores\u003C/a>,\u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/about/creative-partners/alisha-spielmann/\"> Alisha Spielmann\u003C/a>, and \u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/about/creative-partners/chinaza-uche/\">Chinaza Uche\u003C/a> as new Creative Partners.\n\n\u003Cb>The fire generation:\u003C/b> Flux’s work narrowed its focus and staged work that more explicitly engaged with a world on fire. We produced \u003Ci>\u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/History/rizing/\">Rizing\u003C/a>; \u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/History/marian/\">Marian, or the True Tale of Robin Hood\u003C/a>; \u003C/i>productions of \u003Ci>World Builders\u003C/i> in both \u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/History/world-builders-nyc/\">New York City\u003C/a> and \u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/History/world-builders-la/\">Los Angeles\u003C/a>; \u003Ci>\u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/History/am-i-dead/\">AM I DEAD? The Untrue Narrative of Anatomical Lewis, The Slave\u003C/a>; \u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/the-sea-concerto/\">The Sea Concerto\u003C/a>; \u003C/i>and \u003Ci>\u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/operating-systems/\">Operating Systems\u003C/a>.\u003C/i> Two of those productions were the fruits of our \u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/2015/02/meet-fluxforward-playwrights/\">FluxForward program\u003C/a>, which deepened our relationships with playwrights writing plays specifically for the ensemble. We participated in our first educational residency at Lafayette College.  We paused other play development programs, like Flux Sunday and ForePlay. Becky, Sol, Kelly, and Chinaza moved back from the ensemble, and \u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/about/creative-partners/emily-hartford/\">Emily Hartford\u003C/a> and \u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/about/creative-partners/lori-parquet/\">Lori Elizabeth Parquet\u003C/a> joined us as Creative Partners.\n\n\u003Cb>The next generation \u003C/b>began with\u003Cspan style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/about/creative-partners/corey-allen/\">Corey Allen\u003C/a>, \u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/about/creative-partners/sienna-gonzalez/\">Sienna Gonzalez\u003C/a>, and \u003Ca href=\"http://www.fluxtheatre.org/about/creative-partners/jason-tseng/\">Jason Tseng\u003C/a> joining the Creative Partnership at the \u003Cem>A Year to the Day\u003C/em> fundraiser in November 2019. They took co-leadership of an increasingly hybrid approach to Flux's theatre-making driven by the COVID-19 pandemic and an increasingly geographically dispersed Creative Partnership.
